Grafica Creative Studio is about bringing my passion for graphic design and illustration together with my family business of printing.
My story
My love for printing and design started in my Dad's little print shop back in Brazil, in the early 90's. He used beautiful old letterpress machines and I have such happy memories of playing around him while he was working, I still remember the smell of the paper, inks and the sounds of the machines in action.
Grafica Creative Studio is about bringing my passion for graphic design and illustration together with my family business of printing.
I’m so excited to keep this old profession alive and pass forward the knowledge through our printing workshops and making beautiful printing using and preserving these vintage machines.
I love being part of the creative culture and buzz here in Brisbane and getting to collaborate with my clients and other creative services.
the Studio
From 60-120 years old, these gorgeous vintage machines are in their golden years, but were built to last. The Chandler&Price (the biggest) letterpress printing machine weighs in at 750kg and is used for client print runs, while the smaller desktop Craftsmen Printing machine are used by workshop guests to print their invitations, gift cards, business cards and artworks.
The beautiful 400kg guillotine sits in the back corner and cuts through paper like a hot knife through butter at the pull of a lever. Come in and check them out for yourself, you’re always welcome!
We create the design or we print the customer's design. The photopolymer plates are produced in-house and are used to create a perfect impression and provide a luxurious tactile feel to the final product. We manually mix the ink to achieve the perfect shade. All materials printed on the letterpress machines are fed by hand, one by one, color by color, in a very delicate artisanal process to create a perfect unique product.
